What are GLP-1s?
GLP-1 medications mirror a hormone your body already makes — one that helps regulate appetite, blood sugar, and how full you feel after a meal. They're a clinically studied tool for sustainable weight management when paired with the right care.
At Journey, GLP-1 therapy is prescribed only when a licensed clinician determines it's appropriate for you — and adjusted as your body responds.
Do they actually work?
Yes — in peer-reviewed studies, patients on semaglutide lost an average of roughly 12–15% of their body weight over 68 weeks. Results vary, but the pattern is consistent: meaningful, durable change when medication is paired with consistent lifestyle support.
The science, briefly
GLP-1 receptor agonists slow gastric emptying, sharpen insulin response after meals, dampen glucagon release, and quiet the appetite signals in the brain. Together, that means fewer cravings and an easier path to a sustainable calorie balance.
What it feels like
Most people notice a softer appetite within the first week or two. Mild nausea or digestive changes can show up early and usually fade within a month as your dose is gradually titrated up by your clinician.

Frequently asked questions
Who handles the pharmacy side?+
Journey works with independent, US-licensed pharmacies — including Rush Pharmacy — that prepare and ship medications under the supervision of their own licensed pharmacists.
Where is Journey available?+
Journey serves 48 US states. We do not currently operate in South Carolina or California. Availability of a specific clinician or medication depends on your state of residence at the time of evaluation.
Do I need insurance?+
No. Journey is a straightforward self-pay program with transparent pricing — no insurance, no surprise bills.
Is a GLP-1 right for me?+
GLP-1 therapy isn't for everyone. Your clinician screens for contraindications — including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, MEN 2, pregnancy, and breastfeeding — before deciding if treatment is appropriate.
When will I notice results?+
Most people feel appetite changes within the first couple of weeks. Visible changes typically build over the first 1–3 months and continue with consistency.
What happens if I stop?+
Appetite and weight regain are common after stopping GLP-1 therapy. Your clinician can help you taper, maintain, or restart with a plan that fits where you are.
How old do I need to be?+
You must be 18 or older to use Journey.
